This Follow-up Survey of Nutritional Status conducted in 2013 assessed feeding practices and nutritional levels in children ages 6-29 months in Kyrgyzstan. The survey recorded anthropometric measurements and collected blood samples for biochemical markers of nutritional status such as iron, vitamin A, and C-reactive protein.The survey also evaluated the progress of a Gulazyk Micronutrient Powder food fortification program launched in 2009.

Participants were invited and scheduled to visit selected health facilities for interviews, measurements, and sample collection. Survey teams also visited homes of children that did not visit the health facility as scheduled and conducted interviews. The interview portion of the survey collected information on topics such as sociodemographic characteristics of households, breastfeeding patterns, health literacy, and vitamin and supplement use.
