Summary 

This study introduces and describes the European Homicide Monitor, a European Union-funded project to create a database for the detailed comparison of all homicides in Finland, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

The study includes a description of the aim of the project, the data collection methodology, and analysis and results on known occurrences of homicides in Finland, the Netherlands, and Sweden from 2003 through 2006. For this time period, there were a total of 1,577 cases of homicide in the three countries.
