United States Second Supplement on Aging 1994 - ICPSR
General Info
The 1994 second Supplement on Aging (SOA II) serves as the replication study for the 1984 SOA, and as a baseline for the second Longitudinal Study of Aging (LSOA II) survey in the Longitudinal Studies of Aging (LSOAs) project. The Longitudinal Studies of Aging (LSOAs) project was designed to track two cohorts of men and women ages 70 and over on changes in health status, physical functioning, and health care use over time. The SOA II was conducted as part of the 1994 National Health Interview Survey on Disability - Phase II (NHIS-D), a follow up supplement to the 1994 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). The SOA II dataset includes select variables from the 1994 NHIS core questionnaire, family resources supplement, second supplement on aging, and the NHIS-D phase I questionnaire. The SOA II provides information on a nationally representative sample of 9,447 men and women ages 70 and over.
