Summary
In adopting the 2001 Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS, UN member states are required to submit country progress reports to the UNAIDS Secretariat every two years. The UNAIDS Secretariat has the responsibility for developing the reporting process, accepting reports from member states, and preparing a report for the UN General Assembly. Data for the report come from the Ministry of Health and other government ministries, the CSO, and from survey results and studies. Status of the epidemic provides high level figures such as the number of new cases and number of AIDS-related deaths.
