The purpose of this study was to collect data on the risk factors and prevalence of coronary artery disease in the state of Kerala. The target participants were adults ages 20-59 years who were chosen through the Kish method. The study also included adults ages 60-79 years.

Data were collected through in-person household questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, and blood samples. The Rose Angina Questionnaire was included in the interview instruments. Measurements of height, weight, and waist circumference were taken. Blood was drawn in order to check lipids and fasting blood glucose. Participants also had blood pressure measured and electrocardiograms taken.
