Summary 

The purpose of this survey was to assess the prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes within the population of India. This was known as the first phase and the study took place in the states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand, as well as the territory of Chandigarh. The target subject was persons ages 20 years or older.

The data were collected through interviews, anthropometric measurements, and blood samples. The interviews collected sociodemographic data from the subjects. The anthropometric measurements taken were height, weight, waist, and blood pressure. The blood samples were checked for fasting blood glucose and fasting capillary glucose.

The survey collected data from 14,277 subjects. Of these, 13,055 provided blood samples.
