Summary
The Kenya Demographic and Health Survey 1988-1989 was part of phase 1 of the DHS series, a comprehensive, nationally representative household survey. Covers population, education, health, nutrition, family planning and household characteristics.
The North-Eastern province of Kenya and the northern districts of Samburu and Turkana in Rift Valley Province and Isiolo and Marsabit in Eastern Province were not included in this survey. However, the excluded areas accounted for only 5% of the national population.
