Summary
The 1988 Botswana Demographic and Health Survey was a national health interview survey designed to provide estimates for urban and rural areas separately. The sample consisted of women ages 15-49, 4,368 of whom were successfully interviewed . The survey included two questionnaires:
- A household questionnaire collected information on all household members and visitors, and identified women eligible for the individual questionnaire.
- An individual women’s questionnaire covered topics such as sexual behavior, teenage pregnancy, knowledge and use of family planning, maternal and child health, breastfeeding, marital status, knowledge of HIV/AIDs, fertility preferences, employment, occupation, and information about husbands.
