Summary 

The Panama Multiple Indicator Baseline Survey 1996 is part of MICS1; an international survey initiative to monitor the situation of children and women. Caretakers of 1,569 children under 5 from 1,185 households were interviewed. Difficult to access areas of Darien, San Blas, Chiriqui, Bocas del Toro and Veraguas were excluded from the survey sample.
