Costa Rica National Health Survey 2006
General Info
This survey was the first national health survey conducted in Costa Rica. The sample size of 2,004 households in both urban and rural areas was determined through the use of data from the 2000 National Census. The survey consisted of an in-home interview during which each member was asked a series of questions. The interviews were conducted from July 1 to August 9, 2006.
The broad themes of the questionnaire were perceptions of health, use of public and private health care services, dental care and habits, pharmacy use and drug consumption, nutrition and food security, lifestyle, chronic conditions, and life satisfaction. Women over 18 were interviewed about reproductive health. Adults over 60 were asked questions about daily activities and the level of help needed to accomplish them.
