Canada Health Measures Survey 2012-2013
General Info
The Canadian Health Measures Survey combined physical measurements at a mobile clinic and a household interview in order to capture health data that can be used as a national baseline. This survey focused on persons aged 3 to 79 years. The fieldwork was conducted from January 9, 2012 to December 17, 2013. A total of 5,700 surveys were recorded.
The in-home household interview contained questions on nutrition, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, health status, medical history, sexual behavior, lifestyle, living conditions, physical activity, demographics, and socioeconomic information. Samples of the household's tap water and indoor air were also taken.
Physical measurements included height, weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, hearing, and lung function. Blood samples were taken to measure nutrition, including Vitamin D, diabetes, lipids, heart health, chronic conditions, and infectious disease. Urine samples were collected to measure creatinine, exposure to pesticides, and nutrition.
