Ireland Longitudinal Study on Ageing 2009-2011
General Info
The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) was designed to collect information over time on older adults and ageing in Ireland. The first wave, conducted in 2009-2011, collected detailed social, economic, and health information from a nationally representative sample of 8,000 Irish adults aged 50 and over and their spouses and partners (of any age). Three measures were used to collect information from all respondents: a computer-assisted personal interview, a self-completion questionnaire, and a health assessment at a designated health center or in the participant's home. The health assessment included anthropological and blood pressure measurements, blood tests for cholesterol, a visual acuity exam, and cognitive and mental health assessments. A heel ultrasound was also performed as a measure of bone density.
