Summary
The 2008-2009 Jamaica Survey of Living Conditions (JSLC) collected data to provide information for policy development for the Jamaican government. This JSLC collection effort was unusual as it began later than planned, lasted longer than the usual JSLC survey period, and extended into another year. A total of 6,513 individuals from non-institutional dwellings participated. The sample was a randomized sub-set of approximately one-third of the previous Labour Force survey (LFS) in an effort to data linkage between survey series. The questionnaire covered topics such as demographics, education, housing, social welfare, health, and expenditures. The 2008-2009 effort included additional modulea on adult literacy and childhood development.
