Topics covered in this survey include household composition and socio-economic status, consumption habits and expenditures, and information on income, durable goods and agricultural holdings. A stratified two-stage cluster sampling method was used, covering urban and rural areas of Turkey. The survey measured purchases and products and services consumed in the household during the survey month, as well as disposable income received during the past 12 months. Daily expenditures for households and individuals (over 14 years old) were recorded in diaries.
The questionnaire was based on the Household Budget Survey in the European Union used by the Statistical Office of the European Communities (EUROSTAT).
