Summary
The 2000 Population and Housing Census of the Northern Mariana Islands was conducted in conjunction with the United States Decennial Census, as a joint effort by the Census Bureau with the Northern Mariana Islands government. Long-form questionnaires similar to the ones used in the stateside census were also used in the island area enumeration process, featuring 27 questions on housing characteristics, and 37 on population characteristics. The 2000 total population of the Northern Mariana Islands was recorded at 69,221.
