Iceland Infant Diet Survey 2005-2007
General Info
The purpose of this survey was to investigate the effects of the 2003 revised infant diet guidelines. These guidelines focused on diet, growth, and iron. This study explored the daily infant diet from the ages of 5 through 12 months. It also collected data on parental socioeconomic characteristics.
The survey sample size was 345 infants born during the time period of January through December of 2005. Information was gathered on the infants at a variety of times. Parents kept a one recording per month 24 hour food diary on the infants at the ages of 5 through 8 months. This diary was repeated between the ages of 10 and 11 months. At 9 through 12 months, parents kept a one recording per month diary of 3 days of the infant's diet. When the infant reached 12 months of age, the parents were completed questionnaires about household socioeconomic characteristics. Also at 12 months, blood samples were taken from the infants and assessed.
