United Kingdom Mental Health of Children and Adolescents Survey 2004 - UK Data Service

The Great Britain Mental Health of Children and Adolescents Survey 2004 was carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to evaluate the extent of childhood psychiatric disorders. The survey was intended to produce prevalence rates for emotional disorders, hyperactivity, autism, and conduct disorders, based on ICD-10 and DSM-IV criteria.
The surveyed population consisted of children and adolescents ages 5-16 living in private households in England, Scotland, and Wales. Out of a sample of 12,294, a total of 7,977 interviewes were successfully conducted with children and adolescents, parents, and teachers.
Topics covered included: household characteristics, child health status, health service use and provision, mental health symptoms, and the impact of children's mental health problems on others.
