The Ambulatory Information System (SIA) belonging to Brazil's Ministry of Health stores data on outpatient care in the Unified Health System (SUS), the public health system in Brazil. SIA was created in 1992, and implemented in July 1994. It serves as the mechanism for reimbursing private facilities (mainly hospitals) for all ambulatory services, including emergency care, which are covered by SUS. The basis for payment is a fee schedule for services and procedures.
