Summary 

The goal of the Nigeria Sentinel Survey was to collect data on fertility practices of women ages 12 to 50 for use in the country's National Population Programme. The sample size was 18,443 women and 17,776 were successfully interviewed for a 96.4% response rate. Data were collected in December 1994 on education, marital status, birth history, family planning, and AIDS/HIV awareness.
