Summary

This is the first annual report on child morbidity and mortality from the Child Health Advisory Committee of Papua New Guinea's Department of Health. The report contains number of hospital admissions, number of hospital deaths, and case fatality rates in children for a select group of conditions. In 2010, there were 10,897 admissions and 646 deaths reported. The main data source is the Paediatric Hospital Reporting System (PHR). In 2010, 11 hospitals participated in the PHR.
