Summary 

The October Household Survey (OHS) 1994 was the first nationally representative household survey to be released by Statistics South Africa. A total of 132,469 individuals in 30,279 households were successfully interviewed.

The OHS covered employment, unemployment, and the informal labor market. In addition, the survey provided information on households, dwellings, births, deaths, migration, and perceived quality of life.
