The purpose of this two-panel survey was to forecast and estimate agricultural crop yields and household activities relating to agriculture. The data were also collected in order to inform agricultural policies and gain insight into household conditions.

The data were collected through two panels of interviews. Panel 1, the initial visit, was conducted from July 2014 through November 2014. The households were returned to in Panel 2 between December 2014 and February 2015. The interview instruments included a household questionnaire, an agricultural questionnaire, and a community questionnaire.

The sample size for Panel 1 was 39,203 individuals within 4,009 households. In Panel 2, the sample size was 39,348 individuals within 3,992 households. Persons new to a household in Panel 2 were counted but not interviewed. Households included those in rural and urban areas throughout all regions of Mali. The exception to this was Bamako, which only included urban area households.
