The Somalia Health and Demographic Survey 2018-2019 is the first DHS-like survey produced in Somalia. In addition to basic demographic information, this survey collected information about education, employment, marriage and fertility, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, gender-based violence, female circumcision, chronic diseases, and mortality. Questionnaires were completed for households, ever-married women, never-married women, and maternal mortality. Interviews were conducted with a total of 15,761 households and 16,715 women (11,884 ever-married, and 4,831 never-married). 

While it was based on the content and methodology of a DHS, this survey was planned and carried out independent of the macro DHS series.

The Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019), coordinated by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), estimated the burden of diseases, injuries, and risk factors for 204 countries and territories and selected subnational locations.

Covariates, which are independent variables with a positive or negative relationship to GBD diseases and conditions, are used to inform the estimation process in models in all components and stages of the GBD study. Types of covariates used include socioeconomic, demographic, health system access, climate, and food consumption. This dataset contains data for 771 covariates for 1980-2019 used in the GBD 2019 study.

The sample for the 2019 Turkmenistan MICS was designed to provide estimates for a large number of indicators on the situation of children and women at the national level, for urban and rural areas, and for 6 regions: Ashgabat city, Akhal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary velayats. The urban and rural areas within each region were identified as the main sampling strata and the sample of households was selected in two stages.

Four questionnaires were used in the survey: 1) a household questionnaire to collect basic demographic information on all de jure household members, the household, and the dwelling; 2) a questionnaire for individual women administered in each household to all women age 15-49 years; 3) an under-5 questionnaire, administered to mothers (or caretakers); and 4) a questionnaire for children age 5-17 years, administered to the mother (or caretaker) of one randomly selected child age 5-17 years living in the household.

The 2017-18 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS), is part of Phase 7 of the DHS series; a comprehensive, nationally representative household survey series. 20,127 ever-married women ages 15-49 were interviewed from a sample size of 19,457 households. The 2017-18 BDHS used six types of questionnaires: (1) the Household Questionnaire, (2) the Woman’s Questionnaire (completed by ever-married women age 15-49), (3) the Biomarker Questionnaire, (4) two verbal autopsy questionnaires to collect data on causes of death among children under age 5, (5) the Community Questionnaire, and (6) the Fieldworker Questionnaire.
