Zambia Malaria Indicator Survey 2010

The 2010 Zambia Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS) was the third survey of its kind in Zambia since the launch of the National Malaria Strategic Plan (NMSP) 2006-2010. The objective of the survey was to evaluate the progress towards goals set in the NMSP 2006-2010.

A nationally representative two-stage cluster sample of 4,500 households surveyed from 180 standard enumeration areas (SEAs) was used. The survey is representative at the national, urban and rural, and district level for 10 specific Roll Back Malaria sentinel districts.

Personal digital assistants (PDAs) were used to administer the standardized questionnaires. Two questionnaires were used, one for households and one for women between the age of 15 and 49 years. Both malaria parasite and anemia testing were done for children under the age of six years.
