Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs) is a laboratory- and population-based surveillance system for bacterial pathogens of public health interest. Surveillance areas include select counties in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, and Tennessee (the 1997 Streptococcus pneumoniae report does not include New York). Annual reports including demographics, incidence, and deaths are released for each ABCs pathogen.
