Summary

This report covers statistical information on the economic, social, and environmental development of the 58 associate and regional members of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). For each country or territory, there is a two page fact sheet style profile. Included in each profile is information on demographics and population, poverty and economic inequality, health and education status of citizens, air pollution (carbon dioxide emissions), access to clean water and energy resources, sanitation, occurrences of natural disasters, infrastructure and telecommunications connectivity, employment, economic growth, balance of trade, and other financial indicators. Data have also been aggregated and synthesized to broadly address social issues such as women's equality, food insecurity, and crime. The same analysis has been applied to examining prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis across the Asian and Pacific region.
