Summary

The National Research on Domestic Violence Against Women in Turkey 2008 survey interviewed women ages 15-59 about their experiences with physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse perpetrated by their husbands or intimate partners during their lifetime and the past 12 months prior to the interview, injuries due to violence, and sexual abuse experienced before the age of 15. Questionnaires also collected information on the household characteristics and demographics, participants' marital history, general health and reproductive history, and behavioral characteristics of participants' partners. The sample included 24,048 households in 51 provinces, which represented Turkey, all 12 NUTS-1 regions, and urban and rural areas.

The questionnaire was based on the schedule designed for and used in the World Health Organization's Multi-country Study on Women's Health and Domestic Violence against Women.
