Summary

The Sri Lanka Annual Health Bulletin 2012 is produced by the Medical Statistics Unit of the Department of Health Services in the Ministry of Health. The figures presented in the bulletin are based on data collected by the Medical Statistics Unit from several government entities, including the Department of Census and Statistics (population characteristics), the Epidemiology Unit (surveillance of communicable diseases), the Family Health Bureau (maternal and child health), and the Registrar General's Department (vital statistics).

The report covers the national healthcare system, including number and types of health care facilities; educational requirements for medical personnel; and government expenditures by program. Morbidity and mortality numbers are provided for noncommunicable diseases. The report also publishes service utilization figures such as provision of services to patients by district and type of facility.
