Summary 

The data for the initial wave of the KIDS panel survey is data from the Natal province and KwaZulu homeland which was extracted from the results of the national Project for Statistics on Living Standards and Development (PSLSD). The PSLSD was a Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) also known as the South Africa Integrated Household Survey. Samples for the 1998 and 2004 waves of KIDS were based on the KwaZulu and Natal households that participated in the PSLSD.
