Summary

The South Africa General Household Survey 2016 covered the topics of education, housing, food security, social development, agriculture, and access to health care services and facilities. For the 2016 South Africa GHS, individuals were interviewed from 21,228 households and worker’s hostels. The survey was designed to provide estimates at the national level. Data can be broken out by the nine provinces of South Africa, as well as by urban and rural areas. The survey did not include collective living quarters such as hospitals, prisons, military barracks, students' residencies, and old-age homes. The South Africa General Household Survey replaced the October Household Survey (OHS).
