Summary

The Somalia - Northeast Zone Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 1997 is part of round 1 of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) series, an international survey initiative to monitor the situation of children and women. Data was gathered from 1,115 household interviews of women. Responses were collected for 3,452 children age 0-15. Men were not included in the survey. The survey is designed to be representative of the population in the northeast zone of Somalia and the regions within the northeast zone. Estimates can be produced for urban, rural and nomadic populations. Some districts of Mudug were excluded in the sample due to security concerns at the time of data collection.
