Summary

The 2014 Demographic and Health Survey conducted in Samoa collected data on demographic characteristics, primary care, maternal and child health care, feeding practices, family planning, and HIV and AIDS programs and monitoring. Data were collected through four questionnaires covering specific topics or groups: household, women, men, and nutrition. Anthropometric measurements were recorded for all female participants and children under 5. Further anemia tests were conducted with female participants and children ages 6-59 months.

The sample was based on the 2011 Population and Housing Census and drew from both urban and rural areas of Samoa. A total of 5,319 women ages 15-49 years and 2,025 men ages 15-54 were canvassed from 4,171 households.
