Summary 

This annual report contains data compiled from the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Ministry of Public Health. The six chapters of the report include: general health indicators, available health resources, utilization of primary healthcare services, hospital services, and vital health statistics (infectious diseases reported, immunization coverage, number of deaths). The tables of hospital discharges from Hamad General Hospital are broken down by ICD-9 major category, nationality, and sex; additional tables filter by 10-year age group instead of sex. Hospital discharges from specific units at Hamad General Hospital, Women's Hospital, and Rumaillah Hospital are listed by unit, number of deaths, and number of discharges for the years 1996-2002. Comprehensive tabluations provide information on the number of deaths in Qatar by ICD-10 major category, nationality, sex, and 5-year age group.
