Summary

This report is a summary of the data on fertility, morbidity and mortality, gathered in 2004 by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Field Health Services System (FHSIS). Annual figures for population, mortality, and infant mortality are given by sex and age, and at national, regional, and provincial levels. For the ten leading causes of morbidity and mortality, the figures and rates are given for 2004 as well as for the 5-year average (1999-2003). Ten leading causes of child mortality in three age groups (1-4, 5-9, and 10-14) and fetal deaths by cause, type of attendance, and birth weight are included.
