Summary

Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1960 Mexico de jure census collected data through direct enumeration on the subjects of housing, household demographics, employment, education, migration, and fertility. Questions about daily food intake and footwear were also included. The census day was June 8, 1960.

A 1.5% sample of individuals from the census (502,800) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Dwellings, housheolds, group quarters, and vacant units are not identified in the sample. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
