Summary

The 2012 Kenya AIDS Indicator Survey (KAIS) is the second national survey in Kenya to provide comprehensive information on HIV. The survey also includes self-reported data for STDs and tuberculosis.

The survey covers all household members, including all men and women ages 15-49 and all children under age 5.  A total of 13,720 adults and 2,131 children from a sample of 9,300 households were successfully interviewed.

The questionnaires include questions on sociodemographic characteristics, alcohol and drug use, perceived HIV status, awareness of partner HIV status, sexual behavior, and utilization of HIV care and treatment.
