Summary 

The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) is nationally representative survey of students between 13-15 years of age. The GYTS uses a consistent, standard protocol across all participating countries and is intended to generate comparable data. The questionnaire contained 61 multiple-choice questions, including 43 core questions and 18 optional questions. 72 schools, 208 classes, and 5,986 students participated. The survey covered topics such as knowledge about smoking, smoking habits, access to and availability of cigarettes, secondhand smoke, and tobacco advertisements and marketing.
