Summary 

The purpose of this survey was to gather data to assess the trends and correlates of substance use among children in India. Data were collected on substance use patterns and associated factors, including information about family, peers, stress, living situations, economic and legal issues, and psychological and physical health. Interviewers administered the questionnaire to children ages 5-18, from 135 sites in 27 states and 2 Union Territories. The sample size was 4,024 children and included both those in school and those out of school, and children living on the street.
