Summary 

The 2006 Hong Kong By-Census was conducted by the Census and Statistics Department in July and August 2006.  The by-census differed from the full census in that it collected data on population characteristics from a large sample and estimated the population based on those results.

The number of households visited for the by-census was 238,800. Households had the option to either respond in person or through an electronic questionnaire. Topics in the questionnaire include demographic, education, housing and household characteristics.
