Summary

This survey was the second national drug use prevalence survey of secondary students in Haiti. The first occurred in 2005. The purpose of this survey was to determine the scope of drug use in Haitian high school students in order to develop and further define prevention policies. The survey also served as a tool to compare the data on these issues to that of the first survey in 2005.

The data were collected through self-completed questionnaires given in the classroom to students attending Haitian public and private high schools throughout the country. The sample size for this survey was 3,530 students.

This survey was part of a multinational survey effort in which all countries included used a standard methodology and questionnaires. The surveys were developed and administered by the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), a department within the Organization of American States (OAS).
