Summary

The Guyana SPA was conducted to provide baseline measurements for monitoring PEPFAR efforts in the country. It was part of DHS5. The survey was conducted in 155 facilities throughout the country to determine the availability of HIV/AIDS related health services. The sample included public and private hospitals, all health centers providing PMTCT, a sample of non-PMTCT health centers, a sample of health posts, and all private laboratories. Private pharmacies were not included in the sample.

Data was collected via staff listing forms, facility service checklists, and facility and health worker questionnaires. Questionnaires covered topics on HIV/AIDS services and inpatient and outpatient care, the health management information system, laboratory and other diagnostic services, medications and supplies, tuberculosis treatment, VCT, ART, and PMTCT.

GPS coordinates were collected during the survey, but were not distributed.
