Summary

For this population health survey of Greenland, also known as the Greenland Health Interview Survey 1993 and the Greenlandic Health Profile 1993-1994, 1728 adult ethnic Greenlanders (Inuit) and Danes from 38 towns and villages in the territory were interviewed. The interview component had a response rate of 67%, and 75% of the interviewees participated in a clinical study with blood test. The survey covered socio-demographic characteristics, smoking and alcohol use, diet and physical activity, and disease. Blood pressure and anthropmetric measurements were taken, and blood samples were analysed for cholesterol fractions, triglyceride, glucose, free fatty acids, mercury and organochlorines.
