Summary

The GBD Study 2010 estimated the burden of diseases, injuries, and risk factors globally and for 21 regions for 1990 and 2010. The study was implemented as a collaboration of Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) as coordinating center, University of Queensland, Harvard School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, University of Tokyo, Imperial College London, and WHO.

This dataset provides results for life expectancy and healthy life expectancy, which summarizes mortality and non-fatal outcomes in a single measure of average population health. Data are available by country and sex for 1990 and 2010. These results were published in The Lancet in December 2012 in the paper “Healthy life expectancy for 187 countries, 1990-2010: a systematic analysis for the GBD Study 2010.”
