The first wave of a longitudinal study, the Ethiopial Rural Socioeconomic Survey was conducted in all states except for the capital, Addis Ababa. The survey focused primarily on rural areas an small towns, collecting information on household activities and welfare, agricultural activities, and GPS geodata. Three rounds of visits were conducted, including questionnaires on post-planting agricultural activities (September-October), livestock ownership and use (November-December), and post-harvest agricultural, household, and community activities (January-March). A total of 3,969 households were included in the sample.
