Summary 
The Ethiopia Rural Household Survey (ERHS) is a longitudinal household survey covering villages in rural Ethiopia. The survey started in 1989 and included 6 farming villages in Central and Southern Ethiopia. Over time, the scope of the survey has expanded to include more and more areas. In 2004, the survey included a household and community portion; topics covered included responses to drought and other shocks, health status, household expenditures on food and assets, and community infrastructure and services.
