Summary 

The Multinational Injury Surveillance Pilot Project was conducted in emergency departments of six hospitals in the following countries: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, and Zambia. All of the sites used a standard questionnaire that recorded the cause, location, severity, and outcome of each injury. The majority of the reported injury cases were caused by road traffic accidents and interpersonal violence. The Democratic Republic of the Congo study took place at the Kisangani University Teaching Hospital.
