Summary

The Fertility and Family Surveys (FFS) were conducted in 23 United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Region countries from 1989 to 1999. The template survey includes 10 core and four optional modules. Topics include household characteristics, partnerships, fertility, and use of contraception. Each country developed a unique questionnaire derived from the standardized template. Sampling and data collection varied across the participating countries. In the Czech Republic, while a total of 4,038 households completed a basic household module, only 1,735 women and 721 men ages 15-44 were interviewed. The four districts of Tachov, Rychnov nad Knežnou, Jeseník and Vyškovwere not included in the survey.
