The vital registration data cover 1980-2005. The variables vary by year. Data from 1980 to 1997 have information on the cause of death, the location of death (place, zone, municipality, and department), and the age, sex, and marital status of the deceased. However, in 1998 the death certificate was updated, and data from that year forward contain additional variables on fetal deaths, maternal deaths, violent deaths, health insurance, and education. Causes of deaths are coded in ICD9 or ICD10, depending on the year.

It may be possible that this data will be updated with more recent years.
