The National Quality of Life Survey was implemented in Colombia to determine poverty levels, understand living conditions in urban and rural parts of the country, and assist with economic planning. Modules in the 2008 survey included housing, household services, household demography, health, child care, fertility, education, employment, food security, housing finances, living conditions, household expenditures, and a rural module.

All areas of the country except for the rural areas of the Orinoco-Amazonia were included in the sample. The sample size was approximately 13,800 households.
