China Population and Housing Census 2000 Harvard Geospatial Map

The 2000 China census provides statistics on population, sex and age distribution, educational attainment, and employment. County-level census data was integrated with GIS maps by the Harvard Geospatial Library. The maps present 229 variables including population by sex and 5-year age group, number of people by ethnicity, number and types of households, employment status and types, and marital status. Layers of the 2000 mapping data include highways, roads, railways, rivers, and coast lines. The census data was retrieved from the China Data Center at the University of Michigan. The mapping data (that contains the census figures) is available only to Harvard University affiliates.
